Mobiles phones the Necessity of every being have grown in large number in the last 10 years , after the launching of its " Android OS " , the sales have become even more . But there's nothing of Connectivity sort you can do without a SIM in your Mobile . the SIM stands for Subscribers Identity Module. It has become a regular trend for people (Especially in countries like India , Pakistan) to buy every network's SIM , The reason being 'Better Schemes' , when they see that there is a good scheme in other SIM and Go for it .

Inactive SIM' s Cause Shortage in 10 Dig No's

Because of the above mention trend , now a shortage of 10-Digit Mobile Numbers is seen . So now    a regulation is in process that if anyone of the subscriber  want to keep their SIM working and if their SIM is inactive for more than 2 months , then they are required to pay a fee , or their Numbers will be terminated .
Major mobile operators like Airtel,Idea,Tata,Vodafone and Reliance Have found that there are about 200 Million SIM's That are Inactive and need to be barred . And out of them 90 % in the prepaid type . because to own a Postpaid connection you need to pay a fee , which is not so in the case of Prepaid Connections .
After having Discussion with the telecom Minister Indian service providers have how planned to have a 'safe Custody' - As reported by Time Of India . That would be Charged in the range from Rs.300 - Rs.600 / Per-annum .
It occurs many time that , if we do not use a SIM for a period of 6 Months + , the SIM gets Deactivated , but Now if you want your Sim to To Active For a longer Period , You can pay the 'safe custody' and retain it !
RCom (Reliance) Stated that if the prolonged inactive sim's continued we may need to switch to 11-digit numbers . After Ambani took Over RCom it has already deactivated about 21 million in July and 15 Million in December who were inactive for more than 2 months .


  • HERE WE HAVE STATEMENTS BY DIFF OPERATORS :- 

  1. Tata Services : Subscribers should be given a chance to keep their SIM's active by paying a monthly charge in case of Non-usage . Else , there SIM's Will be deactivated . They also stated that about Rs.100. Rs.150 are required / month for the Maintenance of a Inactive SIM 
  2. Airtel : Airtel Customers can keep their SIM's active By doing a recharge that would be charged as possible : Rs.150 For 6 months and Double For An year .
Hope Now you are aware that your SIM will be deactivated if you keep it OFF for a period more than 60 Days , that is 2 months !
